A keen gardener for more than 20 years I’ve always been fascinated by horticulture and design. Following the completion of my RHS horticultural training I set up my own landscaping company Wild Forms.
Prior to this, my career as a wine buyer, then a wine writer meant I spent lots of time working with some of the world’s finest viticulturists - whose work on organic and biodynamic farming has been a real inspiration to my design practice.
The concept of Wild Forms was to take my training and influences into the garden. “Wild” represents the naturalistic planting approach and the importance of identifying plants uniquely suited to each environment. Plants that by and large can look after themselves and can cope with today’s changing climate.
“Forms” relates to my other design inspiration - the creative pruning techniques found in the Japanese garden. An approach that uses plants to provide organic structure and sculptures that help navigate the environment.
The combination of naturalistic planting and organic sculptures are the fundamental design principles behind Wild Forms landscaping.
Whether a small urban space or a vast landscape, I want our gardens to provide the ideal meditative retreat for relaxation and joy.
